Met behulp van Google Translate wisten we uit te leggen wat het probleem was met de remmen en de aardige jongen van de autogarage checkte alles en typte terug dat we ok waren om verder te gaan. Montenegro, we are ready for you!
Shirt uit en zwaaien (lalalalaaa 🎶)
Bij de douane moesten we best lang wachten (komt het omdat het zaterdag was?) en toen we vooraan stonden gaf het chagrijnige douane-mannetje aan dat Roel eerst zijn shirt moest aantrekken (hij zat niet eens achter het stuur maar ok..). De douane uiteindelijk door en tshirt weer uit. Zucht. 37 graden in de camper. But helloooo Montenegrooo!
We komen steeds dichterbij..
We reden langs een babywinkel dus Roel even gaan vragen of ze er een draagzak verkochten. Helaas. Maar de Intersport wel gaven ze aan. 1,5km verder bij de Intersport gekeken en again: helaas. Vorig jaar verkochten ze deze nog wel.. the journey continues..er moet er ergens 1 op ons liggen wachten haha!
Na echt een paar geweldige uitzichten deden we een drankje bij een hotel waar een deel van de Tara rivier doorstroomde. Je kon daar een 15 minuten wandeling doen rondom de ‘waterval’ en bruggetjes, was leuk met de kids! Uiteindelijk weer verder gereden, nog wat plensbuien over ons heen gekregen, uit moeten wijken voor wat paarden en daar was de camping Klajajevice Lake. In het restaurantje wat gegeten (was niet heel best..) en een amazing zonsondergang gezien. Wauw!
De grootste kloof van Europa.
De Tara is een 144 km lange rivier die door Montenegro en Bosnië en Herzegovina stroomt. De Tara snijdt door de Tarakloof, de grootste kloof van Europa en na de Grand Canyon de grootste van de wereld. Hoe gaaf om hier te ziplinen?! Met 50 km per uur roetsjten we van de ene naar de andere kant, zo vet! Volgens Owen een 'hele coole glijbaan'.
Durmitor National Park
Roel op de fiets en wij met de camper richting Black Lake in Durmitor National Park. Meteen kaartjes gekocht en het bos ingedoken opzoek naar Black Lake. Owen vond het geweldig in het bos en rende als een echte avonturier van links naar rechts. Maddie was wat moe dus die heeft bijna de hele weg op de nek gezeten. Wat droneshots gemaakt bij Black Lake (bleek achteraf niet te mogen..) en wat lekkere frietjes gegeten in het restaurantje met supergestresst personeel. Weer terug de camper in, binnen gekookt (mocht niet buiten bbq'n en het regende..) en daarbij de rookmelder goed getest want die ging al vrij snel af. Oeps..weten we in ieder geval dat ie werkt!
Ostrogklooster en kudde koeien
De rit naar het Ostrogklooster bestond voornamelijk uit haarspeldbochten (gelukkig sliepen de kids het grootste gedeelte van de tijd..) en naarmate we het klooster naderden werd de weg wat smaller. Aangekomen op de parkeerplaats moesten we nog wat traptreden lopen in de hitte..
Het klooster ingegaan en bewonderd. Het is wel echt prachtig want het is gebouwd letterlijk in de berg! Enorm veel dekens op de grond die - ik heb het even moeten opzoeken - worden achtergelaten ter donatie aan het klooster. Schijnt dat je er ook gewoon mag slapen ’s nachts. Was nog even spannend toen we weer teruggingen en op de weg een kudde koeien tegenkwamen. Zij waren het blijkbaar gewend want ze liepen op het smalle weggetje gewoon tranquillo langs ons.
Dat is schrikken..
Op weg naar Camping Ilijin Vir. De kids waren er behoorlijk klaar mee dus het was een mooi extraatje toen we aankwamen en de camping een zwembad had. Meteen een duik genomen. Dit nam Maddie wel heel letterlijk want toen we na het zwemmen weg wilden gaan viel ze er in (zonder bandjes!). Roel greep haar gelukkig snel bij haar benen en trok haar omhoog. Ik kan je vertellen dat bij iedereen de schrik er even heel goed in zat..
Pareltje
We kwamen bij een pareltje terecht: Purple Eye Estate - Camp & Pitch @ Winery Jokas. We staan middenin de wijngaard met op de achtergrond rinkelende belletjes van geiten, een superlieve familie en heel veel speelgoed voor de kids. Zoals een trampoline en allerlei (grote) auto’s en karretjes. Ook zij vinden deze plek geweldig!
Er staat nog een klein opblaaszwembad om even af te koelen want het is echt niet normaal heet. 'Di mama' heeft al onze was weggewassen, wat een engel. En een topchef, dezelfde avond nog bij restaurant di mama gegeten: gevulde courgette gemaakt (met vlees en rijst erin), worstjes, hammetjes, kippensoep, salade en eigen gebakken brood met een lekkere paprikaspread. Natuurlijk de huisgemaakte wijn erbij, die was ook top! Een heel leuk gesprek gehad met Marco en zijn vader (eigenaar) en Owen mocht eerder die dag nog groenten plukken uit hun eigen groentetuin. ’s avonds nog geborreld met wat andere gasten van de camping, buitendouchje gepakt, was een geslaagde dag!
HET IS NIET WAAR!
Ja echt: we hebben een draagzak! Via een vriend van Marco, die had er nog een over en wilde deze verkopen. En nog een goede ook, zo happy!
Lipa Cave
Na 5 wijnflessen te hebben ingeslagen (en nog 1 kado te hebben gekregen) reden we een uurtje naar Lipa Cave. Lipa Cave is een van de grootste grotten in Montenegro van ongeveer 2,5 kilometer en is ontdekt toen een hond er per ongeluk in viel. Van de parkeerplaats word je met een treintje naar de grot gebracht waar het zo’n 10 graden is. Even lekker bijkomen ;) Het is absoluut indrukwekkend om te zien.
Kotor
In Kotor door de pittoreske straatjes gewandeld (met draagzak uiteraard), terrasje gepakt en paar uur later doorgereden naar Camping Zelenika in Herceg Novi. Wat pizzaatjes in de oven geknald en tijd om even te chillen…
Bikini aan en gaan!
..of toch niet. Ineens kwam het met bakken uit de lucht zetten. Zo’n storm hebben we eerder nog niet meegemaakt.. Helaas is onze luifelcassette daar ook door aangetast. We hadden deze nog uitstaan, 1 poot is weggegleden en trok een deel van de luifel mee. Daardoor scheurde er een stukje aan de binnenmuur van de camper waar de luifel vastzit. Even gebeld met onze campergarage in NL en die gaf aan dat we nog wel verder konden rijden. In Kroatië gaan we nog wel even opzoek naar een garage om het hier en daar wat te verstevigen.
Ook merkte Roel een lekkage op boven ons bed. Op creatieve wijze (met een bezem) wisten we een doek over de camper te spannen zodat het de regen nog enigszins tegenhoudt. Allebei tot ons ondergoed kletsnat maar ok, hopelijk helpt het. Scheelt weer een douche ;)
Dezelfde avond overleed nog mijn mobiele telefoon en de volgende dag stopte het knopje van het gasfornuis ermee. Ook de deur heeft kuren met open en dichtgaan.. Iets met de wet van Murphy?
Montenegro, de zwarte bergen: jij hebt ons echt verrast!
We wisten dat je mooi zou zijn, maar dat is te licht omschreven. Oogverblindend mooi zou beter zijn. De ruimte, de natuur, de behulpzame maar directe mensen, alle toeristische trekpleisters..
FAN-TAS-TISCH!
Hoewel we er maar een week geweest zijn hebben we zoveel herinneringen gemaakt, Hvala (bedankt) daarvoor Montenegro!

- Ga je naar Lipa Cave? Check de bezoektijden op de website. Wij gingen om 11:30 en dat was prima, daarna werd het steeds drukker.

Ohhh super herkenbaar met die luifel en de regen. Hadden wij ook 1x en allebei halfnaakt naar buiten gerend tijdens de storm en idd zeiknat die luifel staan ‘fixen’ 😂🫣 wat uiteraard niet lukte haha!
