Daar gaan we dan!
Het went..
..OF JUICHEN WE TE VROEG ;)?
Daar gaan we dan! Alles ingepakt en het huis schoongemaakt. Camper gewogen: 3380 kg..oeff dat betekent dat we nog 120kg over hebben en dan zijn 3 gezinsleden (a samen 100 kg nog niet meegerekend), inclusief toilettassen, food&drinks en fietsjes van de kids. Last minute beslissing: we halen de matraskussens eruit waarop we slapen en slapen op de topper. Ook tegen de lattenbodems zeggen we vaarwel. We hebben 24kg gewonnen, yes!
We worden uitgezwaaid door opa en oma Cullie, Nick, Dione en de kids. Toch stiekem wel even slikken.. het begint echt!
5 minuten rijden en de kids sliepen al. Met een creatieve manier Owen zijn hoofd ‘vastgebonden’ zodat hij niet naar voren viel (ik weet het, er zijn speciale bandjes voor..vergeten..).
5 uur laten kwamen op plek van bestemming: een camping in Wasserbillig. (We reizen langzaam met de kids, wat betekent: meerdere stops. Erg prettig ook dat Maddie bij zo’n stop met haar tweewielertje door de hondenpoep is gereden..)
Aangekomen op camping Schutzwiese in Luxemburg. De camping ligt op het knooppunt van de Moezel en de Sauer en 1x een scheet laten en je zit in Duitsland. De camping is simpel, schoon en we halen de leeftijd flink omlaag. Maar allemaal prima, erg rustig en gemoedelijk en met een speeltuin om de hoek. En nog beter: zon. Het is goed weer (16 graden wat voelt als 20).
Het blijkt ook maar weer dat de kids niet veel nodig hebben. Met een hele weide aan paardebloem pluisjes blazen en een met stoepkrijt-gemaakte-Max-Verstappen-baan gaat er een fantasiewereld open. Ook de paar plasjes modder zijn favoriet voor Maddie met haar tweewieler. Dat ze daarbij een tand door de lip oploopt is ‘collateral damage’ ;)
Roel ondertussen de ‘wcbak’ schoongemaakt en ik heb kokhalzend staan toe kijken en me af staan vragen hoe dit zometeen ‘gewend’ moet zijn..
’S avonds trakteren we onszelf op een echte Duitse schnitzel mit Pommes frites. De borden waren nog net niet afgelikt zo schoon waren ze erna. Haha wat een trek hadden we allemaal..
“Kukelekuuu kukelekuuu”.
Nee geen hanen hier. Het was Owen die het riep, gevolgd door: papaaa, mamaaa, ik word wakker van de fluitende vogeltjes. (Geeft aan hoe ‘sereen’ het hier is).
Na een ontbijtje zochten we de speeltuin op, een flink stuk gelopen om boodschappen te doen, onderweg een brood verloren (?), bij de camper gechild en nog even een stuk gefietst, Owen zijn pet verloren (?) en opzoek gegaan naar ijsjes. Dat was een beste zoektocht want na gestopt te zijn bij 2 cafes, een camping en een voetbalclub vonden we het uiteindelijk bij een tankstation. Godzijdank.
‘Thuis’ de skottelbraai aangeslingerd en toen we wat rijst wilden koken kwamen we erachter de houders voor het gasstel in de camper te zijn vergeten. Als in: die liggen nog in NL. Dommm..even kijken of we die met spoed naar een adres in Italië kunnen sturen.. Uiteindelijk creatief opgelost door een rooster van de skottelbraai te gebruiken (nadeel was dat je al die tijd wel de pannetjes moest vasthouden anders gleden ze weg..)
En weer door..
De volgende dag ging het reizen verrassend goed! De eerste stop was na 2,5 uur in Keskastel bij een tankstation met fijn speeltuintje. Hier gingen de kids even lekker los! Daarna zelfs 3,5 uur door kunnen rijden en een grotere speeltuin opgezocht ter hoogte van Blotzheim. Uiteraard wilden ze niet mee maar zodra we het magische woord ‘frietjes’ lieten vallen zaten ze sneller in de camper dan ons. Lekker bij de McDonalds gezeten en nog een half uurtje verder gereden naar het stadje Alpnach waar we gratis overnachten op een parkeerterrein middenin een dorpje. Klein nadeel: 2 verschillende kerken luiden ieder uur (en ieder kwartier!) hun klok…
W-O-W: WAUW!
Na het ontbijt vertrokken we naar onze eindbestemming: Lago Maggiore, camping Orchidea. Het laatste half uurtje rijden was extra mooi omdat we een heel stuk langs het meer reden, wat een view! Voor Owen even minder prettig want die werd misselijk door de haarspeldbochten. Gelukkig was Roel daar snel..met de beslagkom.
Maar wat een te gekke camping is dit en wat een fijne plek hebben we! (Lees: links van ons een speeltuintje waar je op uit kan kijken, vlakbij het schone sanitair en op rechts een strandje. Allemaal niet meer dan 30 seconden lopen. Maddie smeerde zich lekker in met zand alsof het een beautybehandeling was en Owen was druk bezig met het bouwen van een zandkasteel.
De poep-wasmachine
Gelukkig gingen Roel (weer) en Owen de wcbak legen en toen ik vroeg aan Owen waar hij was, antwoordde hij: Ik was even bij de poep-wasmachine. Haha! En dat zette me aan het denken.. waarom is hier inderdaad niet een andere manier voor bedacht? Iets als in: je zet die bak aan de ene kant op een loopband, gaat door een ‘wasmachine’ en komt er piekfijn aan de andere kant weer uit. Alle credits gaan naar Roel hoor, want ik heb dat ding nog niet aangeraakt.. Ik heb me gehouden bij de ‘kleren-wasmachine’ die dag.
’s avonds lekker de skottelbraai aangeslingerd, rijst met kip en groenten gemaakt en op tijd het bedje in gegaan.
Volgende dag wilde Owen perse het zwembad in, lang verhaal kort: het was geen succes :) (zo koud...)
Oeps..
Waar het eerder een goed idee leek om de matrassen eruit te halen ivm het gewicht kregen we nu toch wel last van onze rug. Toevallig zat er vlakbij een Jysk en Roel 2 best grote pakketten (maar licht genoeg voor de camper ;D), vastgebonden aan zijn fiets en meegenomen. De wraps stonden inmiddels al klaar (uiteraard bereid op de skottelbraai, goud ding zeg)! Kids op bed, ‘even’ de vaat doen (dit duurt best lang omdat je al snel gezellig aan het kletsen bent met jan en alleman), alles in Tetris-stijl weer schoon terug zien te nemen (je wilt natuurlijk niet 2x lopen ;D dus de vaat zit in een soort van origami in elkaar), muggenkaarsje aan, spelletje yathzee en slapen maar :).
Trainen die benen!
Lekker ontbeten met scrambled eggs van - jawel - de skottelbraai! Voor het eerst dat we buiten konden zitten want het was gewoon al warm genoeg! Toen gefietst naar Stresa, 7km fietsen met wat uitdagende klimmetjes. Ging natuurlijk voor Roel veel soepeler als ervaren wielrenner ;). Maar toch met ieder een kind achterop en Roel nog het loopfietsje en ik de kinderwagen wordt er wel wat gevraagd van de beentjes..goede workout!
Stresa is echt een heel mooi stadje! Lekker doorheen gelopen, geluncht (volgens Owen de beste pizza tot nu toe), ijsje gegeten (volgens Owen het beste ijs tot nu toe), speeltuintje bezocht, bijbehorend strandje bezocht en met het bootje naar het eilandje Isola Bella gegaan. 'Bella' was het zeker maar niet handig met een kinderwagen. Wilde je echt goed rondkijken dan moest je flink wat trappetjes op. Wij besloten dit niet te doen en even aan het watertje te zitten. Ook lekker relaxed. Daarna het bootje weer terug en op de fiets weer naar de camper.
Al met al een soepele start voor een eerste week!
ONZE TIPS
Reis rustig wanneer je reist met kids. Zoek onderweg wat speeltuintjes op en ze kunnen er weer 2u tegenaan.
- Ook camping Orchidea is een aanrader met (of zonder) kids. Alles in de buurt en erg schoon.
- De App Park4Night, hier maken we nu al veelvuldig gebruik van. Is slechts een tientje per jaar en er staan oneindig veel campings, (on)betaalde staanplaatsen, bij de boer-plaatsen op met handige reviews.
- Een skottelbraai :)
